Paediatric First Aid



Normal first aid skills are applicable when treating young children and infants.  However, these patients often present themselves differently than adult patients would. 


This course is designed for those working directly with children, from childcare workers, to teachers,  as well as parents who want to be prepared when their child gets sick or hurt.

Course Outline


  • Patient Assessment
  • Common Medical Emergencies such as:
  • Appendicitis
  • Croup
  • Meningitis
  • Chicken Pox
  • Febrile Convulsions
  • Trauma and Bleeding Injury Management
  • Choking and Respiratory Conditions
  • Head Injuries and Concussion
  • Continuous Patient Management
  • Communications and Scene Management


Course Delivery

  • The course will be taught through classroom-style presentations and practical demonstrations.


Course Length

  • 4 hours.


Cost

  • €50 per person.


Location

  • Course can be delivered at a PTAS training site or at a location of the client's choosing.


Certification

  • Participants receive a PTAS Certificate of Completion.
